Delegation & quality of care

Nurses operate within teams. Broadly, we are a part of the healthcare team, the team at the specific hospital or site, the health professional team on that ward. More specifically, we operate as a nursing team. Whilst we all work together to achieve the best outcome for our patients, we all have different roles. As Registered Nurses, we are often responsible for the delegation of tasks and need to be mindful of those differences in roles. In this assessment, examine the principles of delegation in a nursing context. How do nurses make delegation decisions? What risk considerations are there when delegating nursing tasks and how does this impact quality of care in Australia? Your submission must be written in essay format and must demonstrate an understanding of governing bodies for nursing and Australian law as in the context of delegation. Specific requirements for the submission are provided in the marking rubric.

Please note that you are also required to include evidence of having completed a draft or planning document in your Appendix. This must show evidence of having planned or drafted your assessment submission and should be a document that is substantially different from the final submission. It may be a mind map or a mapped of rough draft of headings and proposed content.
