You will think of a problem that people face in North Dakota (or in the United States as a whole) and offer a solution to the problem in your essay. The solution should be clearly stated in your thesis statement. Audience: Classmates Purpose: To convince people that your proposed solution will solve the problem you’ve identified You must use at least three secondary sources to support your argument. At least one source should come from the MSU library databases. Your other two sources can be online, non-database sources; however, they must come from reputable websites. The paper must be at least 1500 words in length. To see how your work will be graded, review the “ENGL 110 Grading Rubric.” Assignment Guidelines Your essay must be at least 1500 words. Your essay and citations must be formatted according to MLA guidelines (use Times New Roman). You can also review the Quick MLA Guide provided in the course. All written assignments should be mechanically and grammatically correct with proper punctuation. Before you begin writing, I recommend that you write an outline to organize your ideas. Doing this will help you write a logical, well-organized essay. The introduction should include a clear thesis statement with your solution to the problem you’ve identified. Your thesis statement must be clear and arguable and supported throughout your paper. Use at least three secondary sources to support your argument. Each body paragraph should have a clear topic sentence that relates back to the thesis. The information in each paragraph should relate to the topic sentence.
